Lighting design involves following steps : 1. Type of lighting ( Indoor/Outdoor) 2. Area of room --> Lux level required --> Daylighting available --> Maintenance factor, uniformity factor --> Type of light fitting --> Arrangement of fitting --> Orientation (angle) --> Lux level ( Max, Min, Avg ) obtained --> 3D view. 3. Possible with Dialux, Relux softwares 4. Lighting distribution --> Incoming supply source to lighting DB and Lighting DB to fitting. --> Switchgear rating and cable rating 5. Finally, prepare bill of material.

CAD is valuable for arranging lighting fixtures, but it doesn’t directly compute lux levels. For accurate lighting calculations, Dialux is used. You can determine lux levels and lighting distribution on chosen working plans inside the rooms, export the work to CAD for precise locations for fixtures and isolines. on CAD you can set your isolines into Layer E-Iso to turn them off or on. Ex: you want to have min 500lux level on desks in the office room, you can define 4 isolines (Red 600,Yellow 500,Blue 400,Green 300 ). Desks should be between Red and Yellow lines in this case. If ID changed positions of desks, turning on isolines on CAD can help to assess the new distribution of lights and in Dialux compute again to meet requirements.
