Yes, I found above is really helpful ,and so I am also going to add some value as appended : 1) We should always start with our perspective of working in abroad - Values and belief - Our Aspiration which will certainly give us a right direction. 2). Once we are clear about the direction, we should start understanding the Cultural differences and learn the blind spots. 3) further to the above , it is very important to nudge our perception, knowledge , motivation , Competencies etc. 4).Post above, important is to deploy the similarities of our Competencies as per the above assessed direction and put all noble effort to address the blind spots to address the differences inline with our vision and aspirations.

In my experience, it helped talking to trusted friends and colleagues who went through the same experience. Ask them what helped them in that transition and what could they have done differently. A very pragmatic and effective approach to planning working cross border

My only suggestion would be to go out with an open mind and not have any kind of assumptions, it is true it is always helpful to speak to people and that gives a heads up but one should never completely based their perspective on that because the people you will be working with might be very different, your own professional and personal journey would be very different in your country as compare to global, so it is always helpful to do the research to know more about the new place but start your own journey with the first hand experience of the place as everyone is different, their expectations are different so as much as it's an opportunity to work, manage and lead cross culture it's also an opportunity for the people you will working with.

Based on my understanding of the subject, creating an effective global leadership plan for working abroad requires considering key factors like cultural awareness, communication skills, adaptability, local market understanding, team collaboration, embracing change, ethical values, networking, problem-solving, continuous learning, risk management, and feedback mechanisms. Integrating these aspects into a robust leadership framework empowers leaders to excel internationally, drive success in diverse markets, and foster a culture of global leadership excellence.

Mission and vision is the vital part in both the context , first is we should know what we are and what we want to be - this will certainly fix our purpose and direction as well - again post that a firm action plan is needed like our strength, weakness, opportunity and threat where one should deploy on their strength and develop on their weeknees , which skills are required to learn to get the desired aspiration, people management etc. When my vision and mission is clear then certainly, one should look in to PJ and PO fit - person job and person organization fit - which is very important that our values should always be aligned with organization else it will create a dissonance and disharmony and understanding this is a pivotal to act on.

It is very helpful to know what your personal and professional goals are, how these align to the organization that you would work with. At times your own personal and professional values might contradict to the organizational values so it's always helpful to do that analysis and have that reflection before you hit the wall because if yourself won't be fully convinced on broader organizational goals, mission and vision it will be impossible for you to be effectively contribute, manage and lead.

It is always helpful to start thinking and working towards adopting etiquettes of the country, knowing more about their cultural, moral and ethical and religious values. For example if you have worked in North America or Europe your entire life and now you are going for a project in Middle East there will a huge cultural difference, the language would be very different so thinking around the lines of how can develop basic language skills, what the cultural sensitives that you can familiarize yourself with, how do people meet, greet etc. It's always good to know these and practice.

Last but not least, be honest. Be honest with yourself. Be honest and try to figure out your real goal, which may be hidden deep inside. Is it a challenge to improve your career or income? Do you really have a choice? Are you not just trying to run away from the routine? And if the reasons are mostly personal, working abroad wouldn't be productive and you have to rethink your vision and plans.
