Choosing the right tools and platforms are critical for a fully remote team! Slack is our go-to internal communications platform. We use Airtable for company-wide project management. We also make our Zoom meetings super interactive by infusing fun and reimagining the typical into something more creative. For example, at our Monday team meetings, we ask people to share 3 things only - what they're working on this week, what challenges they have, and what are they into (a Netflix show, anything that happened over the weekend, a book they're reading, etc.). We've taken what could be a boring stand-up and personalized it in ways to learn more about one another each week.

I saw too many miscommunications due to a wrong choice of tool.

For example, we spend a good portion of our time thinking about how to name each channel, the number of channels that make the most sense for our company, and how we'd like each person to not only begin a thread but also, how we'd like each person to engage with that thread. We've developed community rules that basically ask each employee to live out our values (we send these reminders once a quarter), and we also do a pretty good job cleaning up our channels when we want to archive them or don't need them altogether.
