In most cultural transformations, the people or career development goals remain the same. Development is based on the competencies and culture is more about the practices and processes. The only overlapping area is if the values are changing then your competencies will change. In order to sustain your performance, you need to be flexible and resilient to cope with the change.

Creating a career development plan that aligns with a new company culture starts with thoroughly researching the available options within the organization. Reflecting on my approach, understanding the company's values, goals, and available opportunities is crucial. When I joined my current company, I spent time understanding the organizational structure, ongoing projects, and potential growth areas that matched my skills and interests. This research involved discussions with HR, attending company workshops, and networking with colleagues across departments. Doing so gave me insights into where I could best contribute and grow within the company's cultural framework.

Understand the change and how it will impact the processes or strategies then you can have a better idea to set your objectives. Your actions needs to be aligned with your goals and organizational priorities.

Isn't it all interlinked? Building and instilling a career development plan should always be aligned to your future organizational state that in turns is also aligned to the overarching Organizational Strategic plan delivers the company vision. It starts with the vision / mission as a Future state and then the current state will need to be assessed, accordingly, several transition plans will need to be put forward, i.e. Recruitment plans, development plans, career plans, etc. to meet the cultural aspiration & related profile and capability of the future state.
