Editing can help. Do what you can, but don't get bogged down. If editing is going to help you get through some rough patches, then do it, by all means, but it doesn't have to be perfect ... no one is expecting you to be Steven Spielberg. You don't have to be overly produced ... there are only a few ways to look perfect, but there are plenty of ways to be rough around the edges, which is more relatable, anyway. If you can do it all in one take without any serious flubs, do it ... roll with the mistakes and laugh at yourself a bit ... people like that.

The late-great ad-man Gary Halbert used to say he'd take his copy to bars and read it to the people who were there. If people told him, "hey, that's great, pal," he knew he had a loser and had to go back to the drawing board. If people told him, "wow, where can I get one of those," he knew he was holding onto gold. Comics like Dave Chappelle and Chris Rock test their material ... they never do a big comedy special until they've worked on their material in front of smaller audiences. If it worked for those three, it can work for you.

Let good audio and viz breath. I know, I know, you could be worried about time restraints. Relax. It's the Internet. Unless you're looking for shortform content, you can afford to let good audio and viz do the heavy lifting. Back in the good ol' TV days, I'd write voice overs with clips of "nat-sound" that were on the longer side, and those stand out. Now, of course, comes the BUT ... don't overdo it AND the content has to be worth it. There's something about having your voice stop that can create a moment, and you'll know what I'm talking about if you're a sports fan. When the moment is just right, the commentators stop talking and let the nat-sound do the work, the moments that never get glory, but build a the bigger picture.
