It makes it easy add new model elements and diagrams, and minimized the effort over using just a diagramming tool.

Use the other diagrams only when necessary as add on. A quick polemical note on Use Case Diagrams: use them with caution! I believe that use cases do not model user requirements, and that use case diagrams are unsuitable for communicating with users. The underlying problem, is that use cases often lead to modeling a solution from the beginning rather than user requirements, and basing a project on use cases often leads away from true object-oriented architecture.

In my opinion, maintaining UML diagrams is really hard in a dynamic environment. I would say there are different aspects to describe your system. 1. Use visuals over text to describe the system at high-level point of view where the C4 model might be useful, e.g. components interaction in the system can provide a high-level understanding for your team 2. Document critical behaviors and configurations to supplement the high-level information as these are not changing that fast 3. Write clean and structural codes to provide code as documentation 4. Choose the right diagram for the right purpose like a sequence diagram to offer a detailed description or a state diagram to describe how a state transits from one to another.
