How can you collaborate with a job search buddy to improve your search?

As a Recruiter and job search strategist, I truly love when Job Seekers find a #careerbff to support during their search. A good friend of mine, Tabitha C. always says that job searching is a "team sport," and that is 100% true. Having a job search buddy, helps keep one motivated, accountable, and supported. Make the suggestion to set up weekly or bi-weekly calls to check in, share wins, lessons learned ect and watch your job search accelerate!

I recommend this: Find people who know their sh*t. A good place to start if you are part of a massive downsizing is to collaborate with those who have also been downsized. Be ruthless about avoiding people who are naysayers or who try to sell you something. Otherwise, seek out those more senior than yourself. People who have considerable amount of hiring experience who can tell you if your resume doesn't cut it, who are willing to do mock interviews with you. Well let’s see!! First you have to find a buddy who is willing to work as hard as you! Someone that who hopefully has a big network and you both can make introductions. I would like to elaborate on the importance of emotionally support during job search journey: a. Stress Reduction: Job searching can be stressful, especially during periods of uncertainty or rejection. Emotional support from a buddy provides a healthy outlet to share concerns. b. Boosting Resilience: Facing challenges becomes more manageable when you know you have someone understanding your journey, making it easier to bounce back from setbacks. c. If one has strong emotional support system, I think half the battle is won.

Job Seekers are very ego centered and lack Collaboration Skills. For years I have failed to create functional networks like Telecom or Blasting or industry networks in mining. Currently I have clients working in isolation. There is no way they understand the value of team work and the sharing of market intelligence. This People are insecure, Introvert and unable to develop relationships even within their own fields. You can measure these facts on their networks and their almost zero activity in their LinkedIn Profiles
