1 Define the purpose

Before engaging with any digital content, help your mentee clarify their purpose and goals. Why are they looking for information? What do they want to learn or achieve? How will they use the information? Having a clear purpose will help your mentee focus their search, filter relevant and reliable sources, and avoid distractions and temptations. You can also help your mentee set SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound) goals to track their progress and evaluate their outcomes.

I would teach them the basics of critical thinking and encourage them to question the information they come across online. Fact-checking techniques, analyzing the author's intent and bias, and developing media literacy skills are also important aspects to focus on. Additionally, discussing logical fallacies, encouraging active engagement, and providing guidance and feedback will help mentees develop their critical thinking abilities over time.

The response is in the question The what and the how. Suggest that they consider what it is they are trying to do, learn a new skill perhaps, or learn about a particular situation. In both cases that will lead to then thinking about how to go about it. Using the SMART system and filling in the responses to each part of that will help clarify their mind and their approach to looking at this as a problem solving exercise. It will be an itterative process aas the first pass will not usually answer all the questions , but will allow further thinking and refinement of objectives.

Your meter needs to have a walk through how transformation is the new normal to keeping up with the digital divide. Introducing the digital era through simple advocacies will help build up a positive rappoire of this new 4IR revelotion enabling the mentee to become aware and conzcietized about changes. Besides understanding the framework of the digital era will give the mentee some confidence to embrace change.

2 Ask questions

One of the best ways to coach your mentee to think critically is to ask open-ended questions that challenge their assumptions, perspectives, and reasoning. For example, you can ask your mentee: How do you know this information is true? What evidence or arguments support this claim? What are the strengths and weaknesses of this source? How does this information relate to your purpose and goals? What are the implications or consequences of this information? How does this information affect your views or actions? Asking questions will help your mentee analyze, synthesize, and apply information, as well as reflect on their own learning process and outcomes.

Always ask questions , particularly if you are either unsure of the answer or have never experienced this before. The is no such thing as a stupid question, it's surprising when you ask a question how many will also speak up and say " I was wondering that too"

3 Compare and contrast

Another useful strategy to coach your mentee to think critically is to compare and contrast different sources of information on the same topic or issue. This will help your mentee identify similarities and differences, patterns and trends, gaps and inconsistencies, and biases and perspectives. You can also encourage your mentee to compare and contrast their own opinions and experiences with those of others, and to consider alternative viewpoints and perspectives. Comparing and contrasting will help your mentee evaluate the quality, credibility, and relevance of information, as well as develop a deeper and broader understanding of the topic or issue.

A final way to coach your mentee to think critically is to help them create and share their own digital content based on their research, analysis, and synthesis. This will help your mentee demonstrate their learning, express their ideas, and communicate their messages effectively. Creating digital content is actually treading into a path which might be uncomfortable for many Following to consider while convincing my Mentee 1 showing the larger picture 2 growth cannot happen in comfort 3 uncomfortable action driven task will yield the best results 4 showing all you tube videos where people made themselves uncomfortable and have touched the path to success, 5 and it’s said what is seen the maximum is sold the most 6 Mentee industry results can motivate them the most. 7 constant motivation
