To quickly evaluate a media outlet I’ve never worked with before, I follow these 3 steps: 1. Visit its homepage and navigate through its blog/news sections to see if the topics are relevant for my goal. 2. Visit ahrefs.com to check the site’s domain rating. We at Mindset usually work with media that have a DR over 70 to ensure the site is credible and Googleable. 3. Visit similarweb.com to check the site’s analytics and audience. It often happens that you find a first-look good blog, but then discover that most of its visitors are, for example, from Asian countries, while your target audience is in the U.S. Once you've done this, you can delve deeper and learn about its editorial guidelines, staff, topics they cover and more.
