My career began with an associates equivalent in Criminal Justice with my instructor being a sheriff’s deputy. The rapport is the only thing that can move a case, or project, forward. I’ve found over the years and the collaborations in various fields that I’ve had, that saying the quiet part out loud and asking difficult questions in tactful ways does lead to personal, professional, and interpersonal growth.

Remember that everyone needs their own space and people can react differently when they are tired, cold or hungry. Field work can be hard and is often long hours. After a period of days or weeks this can become draining both physically and emotionally. Give field workers time and space to recover and promote a culture where it is OK to not be OK.
