Keep in mind that auditioning is a daunting and generally horrific experience for actors! They are putting themselves on the line with minimal prep time for judgement from a panel of strangers! How you handle that situation will help you build trust, respect and rapport with the actors. Understand that the audition process is difficult, and be as supportive and friendly as possible. Help to make the actors feel more relaxed, and then when you come to hire them you will hopefully have already built some of those essential foundations for a great working relationship.

One thing I found helpful is always being involved from the beginning to understand and expand the vision. You have fitting, casted talent and allowing comfortable transparency and input can allow them to perform their best, know their worthy, know they can be vulnerable and that leads to tv gold every time.

Getting back to any professionals you engage in your project/bid is just good business. Regardless of the outcome, it's a practice that contributes to maintaining a professional reputation. However, providing feedback after the audition to everyone may not be feasible, especially if you have dozens/hundreds of people auditioning for your project. Prioritize communication with those who have been selected/moving to the next stage of consideration. A concise and appreciative message expressing gratitude for their participation and explaining the next steps helps maintain a positive and respectful relationship. One thing I found helpful on set and production is making sure communication with back end paper work meets front of line one camera talent needs so other production staff is not caught in the middle of executive and talent business and then can excel on the content creation task at hand.
