Do scenario based trainings and ensure recurrent and refresher Trainings are respected

Training, training, training. Allocate the time for different scenarios initially for the basics, then intermediate, then high-end solutions. Senior managers and supervisors should rely on the varied skill-sets of their team members and solicit their input in order to build a strong response/action mechanism. All too often companies/organizations are reluctant to allocate funds for equipment (resources), manpower, and training, but it must be done to ensure the best possible outcome. It is not just a reputation that is on the line, but lives as well.

In my experience hands on drill for emergency preparedness is very helpful: the rescue team is trained to different scenario based on risk assessment. Team learn how to takle the emergency situation assuring good comunication between each other.

I agree and we have to consistently test what motivates a team. For some it’s RESPECT and the feeling of being VALUED. For others it may be a thank you note or an open recognition by the CEO or team lead. Explore and adopt what suits your organization.

Say what you Mean and mean what you say and show up in the coal face as a motivator and not a police. Celebrate success and use failures or poor performance as teachable moments.

Don’t talk using buzzwords and the flavor of the day term. During a crisis response you just need to do what you do everyday. The event may be larger and last longer but you need to manage it the same way.
