You started as plant operation personal. Let's be clear in our mind that some people are depends on you, they need you at the end of the day. You need to be safe. 1st level of protection is PPE/PPC, no matter how you feel, looks, comfortability. 2nd you need to think safe practice comes before your work. 3rd review SOP 4th there is no shame to ask your subordinate or supervisor for help. 4th do a risk assessment for the job assigned, if you find unsafe ,don't do it. 5th Always follow golden rules of your company, most probably there 10 golden rules to follow 6 don't horseplay at work 7 don't gossip 8. Drink water intermittently, remember hydration is key. 9 handing over the job 10. Report any injury, no matter how small it is.

Those who choose to control their environment, and those who choose to deny their responsibility to be aware of everything that is going in their environment. The first are responsible. Each and every task associated with the hazard or hazards.Its an energy that can harm you. In most of the cases each task associated with the risk assessment and SOP. If additional risk to be found during execution, inform supervisor, stop the job. Review the risk and eliminate the risk exposure. There are factors to be rememberd. 1. Risk Elimination 2. Engineering control by contained the risk 3. Administrative control 4. Safety PPE/PPC Remember your family members are waiting for you at home.

PPE/PPC are the 1st line of defence. 1. Selection PPE it requires details risk assessment in respect of safety, quality, hazard prevention and how to wear it. PPEs are having of its own life. Please check the date of expiry. All PPEs are required to be inspect regularly and it is a continuous process.A separate team is assigned to perform the inspection. Similarly PPCs are to be inspected regularly and replace it time to time. Any good organisation always give utmost importance to the safety of the employees Each and every employee is an valuable asset to the company. Never ignore them

A good organisation normally keep a inventory of the SOP. SOP is written in simple language, with identification of hazards and each task associated with it. Normally what I have witnessed, there are tons of SOP written and documented but at the time of work it was not reviewed, consulted and even discussed with team members. Organisation need to reinforce and build a culture how to use the SOP and show the result of its effectiveness.

This is my favourite topic, in my whole career when investigated the incident, 90 percent I found the wrong reporting of the incident . My observations is as follows: 1. People hide the truth due to fear 2. Co workers want to save him or her from the disciplinary actions 3. Leaders wanted to be clean 4. Lack of experience to identify the root cause. 5. A big meeting on safety is a big mess. 6. Direction of investigation is wrong. 7. Lack of immediate evidence,pictures. Often fabricated. Inspite of that truth ultimately revealed after sometime. 8. Even if true incident is revealed failure to register the causal factors as a bad record. Incident investigation is a vast subject and now a new software is available fo investigation.
