How can you address gaps in your resume when you were pursuing a personal project?

In the US, some jobs require that you account for time away from employment. I know the airlines will do a 10 year background check to satisfy FAA regulations. So please don't discount that. It all depends on your occupation. And if you did take time off, you'll need someone to verify what you were doing during that time.

Firstly, I think we should lose the feeling that taking time off is a bad thing. Many organizations even provide programs to take time off in case you need it. Transferable skills are not only certifications or hard skills. Self reflection in order to highlight how you would differently tackle previous challenges also shows development. Don't feel forced to start your CS50 course because you're scared you have nothing to show for time you needed to relax - not work.

Please DON't ! Your resumé is what you want to tell the world or your new boss. The world and/or the new boss do not have to know everything. Why the moronic idea that every month has to be accounted for. You can list your work experience, the places where and times that you have worked. If during the interview the gap or gaps are mentioned; you can answer 'That's personal, I was not in jail, I was busy with other things.' It is only a job. The new company does not have to know everything like you tell your spouse. Hold your head up high, believe in yourself and properly done you'll get more respect by keeping some things to yourself than trying to fill up every week of your live.

Podemos haber priorizado un proyecto personal, o educativo, para mencionar algunos. Y para poder plasmar esto en el CV, podemos identificar que habilidades adquirimos y lograr plasmarlas, intentando vincularlas con el puesto al cual queremos postularnos. Una vez que identifiques esto, podes plasmarlo y quedara evidenciada la correlación entre experiencias.

Being able to define why you are ready to return and how you came to this decision shows that it's a well thought out process. Imagine you are hiring yourself, you'd want to hear if someone really is ready to return to the workforce. Your first thought would be: "Why now?"
