Without full disclosure and discussion, a project can be set up for failure without all parties involved from the beginning.

Contingency planning is always very important in construction. No matter how frugal one can be there will always be a cost overrun especially in the finished fixtures. Very seldom the architects pick high end fixture.

Reviewing all costs and expressing concerns over anything that can be questionable. One can not sacrifice safety or quality over costs; therefore, extravagant costs must be evaluated and compared to lower costs with safety and quality at the forefront.

From my experience, the fair margin has to be earned when the proposal is presented and negotiated. When producing , if there isn’t the right amount of engineering hours from the right professionals dedicated to, is when you lose money.
