Attendance is one of the significant indicators of the employee engagement, it goes two-way perspective for employees, - Those who are engaged and working to a late-hours, HR need to talk to the employee manager to make sure that's something temporary for the sake of urgencies, and make sure that engaged employee are not abused. - The second one is when the HR well communicated the policy and SOP's, this will be the responsibility of the manager and he need to approach him positively. how can he do that? - Make sure that work life balance implemented. - Make sure this is temporary due to special event. - Morning activity. - Morning meeting. - Being assertive when he discussed the late. attendance and try to offer support and help.
I believe what requires to be addressed, is the issue with unplanned absence. Unplanned also that too which becomes chronic and is habitual in nature. Such team members must be dealt with in accordance with the disciplinary policy. In the same breadth, it is worth a note that every organized manager should provision for shrinkage and planned absence can be managed with without much pain.

I bristle at the term “consequences”. If you treat people like adults I believe you have a much better chance of getting the behavior you are expecting. People connect with the “why” they need to do something. I fully support escalating conversations about not fulfilling commitments or meeting expectations. And I also support updating our language around the topic. Replacing terms such as “attendance policy”, “warnings”, and “last chance” could give people a better chance at being successful.

Flexibility is key. We have a flexible work schedule in place that has several starting times: from 7:30 AM to 9:00 AM. This has allowed employees to align their work hours as they prefer in order to promote a healthier work-life balance ?? improved attendance as they feel more in control of their schedules!
We created 3 schedules for the team. Start times at 8 am. 9am and 10 am. And we decided the team through the schedules. Team performance improved by 30% in the first quarter of this experiment. Turning negatives into positives is always the best choice.

Overall I can suggest one more thing from my experience, one of the worst mistakes we do as a Manager or Owner is detaching ourselves from day to day operations. As soon as bad employees see that you are not coming around as often, they will probably start to miss more work. Letting these employees know that you have noticed their tardiness and absences can be effective, this process will help you to maintain the attendance issues constructively.

Orientation session for code of conduct and related action list in the first date of hiring which will be applied for all teams. Reminders on regular dates for this action list. Employees tracking along with decumented one to one coaching for repeated issues. Employee must sign or confirm over the mail that he received notification for issue and related action. Code of conduct applied overall team members in clearly way.
Focus on Private meeting!!! In a one-on-one meeting, express concern about missed workdays impacting team projects. Collaboratively set achievable attendance goals and discuss potential support, like flexible schedules or addressing underlying issues affecting attendance.
