Just because someone is currently paying you to animate, or direct, or take out the garbage, does not make you an Animator, or Director, or Garbage Collector. I am currently directing animation as my job. I don't say "I AM a director", because that would ignore the fact that I direct, compose music, design characters, tell stories, drive a car, parent my children, write articles, and any number of other actions I perform that fill in the details of who I am. I provide direction, I lead, I inspire, I teach, I mentor, I create. But it would be inaccurate to say "I AM a director", and thereby limit myself with such an externally determined title.
