In my opinion everything is simple. Customers WANT to know for what are they paying. But in general they have bills where they can see either overall monthly consumption (water, gas, electricity) or monthly consumption divided by tariffs. This makes no sense to customers and they do not understand HOW and WHEN they consumed. In general if customers pay quite a lot they are NOT satisfied = no trust to utility company. 1 step: make customers understand that utilities are not enemies: be open, send to customers detailed report with daily data. Utilities have this info. Just attach it to every bill. 2 step: give customer access to app/platform where they can monitor daily consumption. 3...n steps: engage, demonstrate, educate, communicate...
