How can semantic web and BIM enable more efficient and effective information retrieval and analysis?
Building information modeling (BIM) is a process of creating and managing digital representations of physical and functional characteristics of buildings and infrastructure. BIM can facilitate collaboration, coordination, and communication among different stakeholders involved in design, construction, and operation of built assets. However, BIM also poses some challenges in terms of information retrieval and analysis, such as data interoperability, quality, and integration. Semantic web technologies, such as ontologies, vocabularies, and linked data, can provide solutions to these challenges by enabling more efficient and effective information retrieval and analysis from BIM models and related data sources. In this article, we will explore how semantic web and BIM can work together to enhance the value and usability of building information.
