Los sistemas SCADA deben funcionar en tiempo real. Estos sistemas requieren que los datos se obtengan y procesen en milisegundos. Edge Computing utiliza la distribución geográfica de dispositivos en la fuente de datos o cerca de ella. En lugar de depender de la nube en varios centros de datos para procesar y monitorear los datos, el dispositivo informático de borde más cercano a la fuente de datos se encarga del trabajo. Esto no elimina la necesidad de la nube, sino que la acerca a la fuente. Estos dispositivos pueden ser fáciles de instalar y configurar cuando se utilizan los módulos MQTT.

Is it really necessary to integrate a SCADA system with an Industrial IoT solution? Why not use the latter to also handle the former's role? When it comes to data collection, for instance, there's no difference. A comprehensive IIoT solution cannot only provide excellent data visualization and in-depth analysis (e.g., anomaly detection) but also directly acquire data directly from the machine's PLC.
