Know who to meet and/or network with BEFORE the event. That means know what you have on the inside( who you work with everyday) and know who to see on the outside. 1) Inside- where most groups fail is they don't know what they have working next to them. They may work in software development, but did you know they might have a background in cyber security. There is a lot of people who have education more then just their job title. There is a saying I hard early in my career " remember there's what they are allowed to do, but what are they actually trained to do". 2) Meeting with others for lunch that you dont work with. meeting with someone from AT&T or Apple( and others) can help you when there is an issue on a later date.
