In RL we learn the optimal policy of an autonomous agent by trail and error using a reward given as a cause of its action. The reward is generally estimated as the expected value of following the policy of the agent (sequence of actions) until the problem finishes. Every action makes you change the state, and in every state you need to choose the action that maximizes the expected reward.

I believe Agent is a god-like creature but it does not know it yet. It can do anything and create anything. It can understand the dimensions more than we can, and work a thousand times faster than us. I was lucky to have experience developing in-game AI for a 10M+ downloaded mobile game. My team considered adopting reinforcement learning, but it did not fit our case. This was because we continuously updated the game, and introducing new skills and characters would disrupt the previously learned behaviours. This challenge is common in reinforcement learning applications for games, especially frequently updated ones. That's why people often research reinforcement learning with 'old enough' games with settled rules, such as Go, chess, Tetris, and Starcraft, where the game environment is static and predictable.
