Public speaking is a great way to ensure internal and external support for your strategy. I have always been of the opinion that strategic plans need to be communicated to work, internally across the entire organization and externally where ever relevant stakeholders are present. Internal sharing provides guidance and external sharing instills clarity and confidence, internally as people appreciate when their organization is out there, and generally as stakeholders wish to be informed. External sharing shows confidence in the strategy. It helps to find partners and gain broader stakeholder support. Important is that there is coherence between internal and external messaging to avoid confusion. Communication is the power behind the action.

2 Demonstrate your credibility

Another challenge of executing a strategy is to demonstrate your credibility and authority as a leader or a strategist. To me this is the most important aspect of executing a strategy. Who is executing it if not your Team of employees? A good global strategy is short and pointy, communicated concisely externally, and translated / locally interpreted from top to bottom through all levels, divisions and countries of an organisation until every employee can see how to contribute to the strategy. Only that creates a common vision, alignment, motivation and a sense of belonging to something bigger and unleashes the power of everyone working towards the same goal.

A fourth challenge of executing a strategy is to adapt to changes in the external or internal environment, such as market shifts, customer needs, or competitor actions.
