How can project managers train employees to be more engaged?

In my experience as a team leader, it is essential to establish clear objectives for both individuals and teams so that workers are aware of their duties and responsibilities and can match their own objectives with the project's overarching objectives.

Communicate goals transparently, aligning them with organizational vision and values. Clarity in objectives helps focus the team, mitigates confusion, reduces frustration, and facilitates the measurement of progress and achievements.

Where possible, assign roles/tasks that utilise the employee's strengths and interests. 2) In team meetings, get the most junior staff, including intern, to speak first. Ensure everyone has a voice, and speak for about the same period of time. No one should hog the conversation and the boss should always be the last to share. 3) Show genuine care for the team. It is felt in the small daily interactions, and not at the big public declarations. When bosses show vulnerabilities, accept weaknesses, and admit mistakes, employees like such bosses better than those who appear perfect.
