How can a leader's personality create a positive organizational culture?

I think that not all leaders are made the same and in transparency, some are always going to be more successful than others because of the natural characteristics they have. The ability to show the authentic self is one of these, more introverted leaders don't visibly fit some of the things people would look for. So learning skills of communication, speaking, and engaging with the public with the authentic self is as important as having specific traits to start with. In a nutshell, if people don't know it's there they can't get inspired by it. Introversion is just one influencing factor. Another is the social conditioning we have about what good leadership looks like.

A positive environment culture can enhance productivity, performance, satisfaction and well-being of both leaders and followers. One of the ways that leaders create a positive environment culture is by being someone that people can look up to. By being trustworthy, respectful, empathetic and supportive can earn the respect and loyalty. They can also inspire them to achieve their goals and overcome challenges. Another way is by treating the organization as a playfield to practice and learn. Leaders who encourage learning, innovation and experimentation can foster a culture of growth and development. They can also create opportunities for feedback, recognition and improvement.

You have to be authentic. If you aren't you will get caught out, and that will destroy you & your team. Open, honest and transparent are key, but being part of every process is too. I start from a place of trust & respect, its not something you have to earn from me, this helps create value and empowers team members to be their best selves.

Picture this...In a company the believes in hierarchy & Seniority, imagine a manager who values inclusivity and open communication. Instead of following the usual top-down approach, this manager encourages everyone to share ideas in brainstorming sessions. Even though it's different from the norm, it aligns with the belief that diverse viewpoints lead to better innovation. By explaining this to the team and highlighting how it helps the company compete better. This is authenticity. Mixing personal values with the company structure sets a tone for a more inclusive and innovative workplace.

Great leaders bring their team with them, recognising your team’s strength and weaknesses and supporting them to grow to become high performers is key

Being supportive at work often involves aiding colleagues professionally—offering help, active listening, guidance & encouragement for success. However, I believe support isn't always just that. Sometimes, mere presence matters. I remember, in my early sales career, month-end meant late hours posting orders. While many bosses used to leave on time, instructing their teams to finish and call for approval. My boss used to sit beside us. He'd say, 'I'm here only. Let me know if you need any support.' Sometimes, standing beside you means EVERYTHING!

In a world that constantly changes we need to be emphatic with any person and transfer all the knowledge that helps to any one the give the best of them.

In a changing world with high uncertainty, leaders need to be visionaries to take their organizations to the future, overcoming the difficulties of the environment, reading the trends of the sectors that impact them and taking advantage of the opportunities that are to come. Having a strategic vision that focuses on the development and growth of your team and organization, is an indispensable characteristic in the personality of today's leader for the world of tomorrow.

A leader must possess the ability to see what others cannot. They can think ten steps ahead and inspire their team to follow along with clarity and conviction. This clarity and conviction are a direct reflection of the leader's personality, expressed as self-confidence, a strong sense of purpose, creativity, and the determination to keep moving forward. At the same time, a leader must support their team and ensure that everyone is growing and making progress. While leading, they must ensure that no one is left behind.

By articulating a clear, inspiring vision, they rally their team toward common goals. They nurture a culture of innovation, encouraging novel ideas & calculated risks. Their vision inspires others, enabling a sense of purpose and direction. Ultimately, their visionary perspective guides the organization through challenges, propelling it towards sustained success and growth.

Being adaptive means listening , understanding and giving due consideration to other's idea. This will give positive vibration to other that their view matter and they feel involved.

Adaptability vital for leaders, reflecting their capacity to navigate shifting landscapes. It embodies flexibility, resilience, and an openness to change. Adaptable leaders embrace new ideas, swiftly altering plans to fit evolving circumstances. They learn from setbacks, growing stronger through challenges. Quick decision-making and a continuous quest for knowledge characterize their approach. Importantly, they encourage adaptability in their teams, encouraging innovation & learning. In an ever-changing world, adaptability equips leaders to guide effectively through uncertainty, ensuring resilience and growth in dynamic environments.

Las situaciones que se presentan en el día a día, aunque son semejante, no son iguales. Siempre hay que adaptarse a los cambios. Esa es la principal situación por la que hoy cada uno de los que podemos respirar estamos aquí. Siempre debemos estar predispuestos a adaptarnos a los cambios.

Leadership adaptability is about flexibility, quick respond and make changes to business environment changes. An adaptable leader can adjust quickly to new situations and changing circumstances.

'B+' should not only be a blood group type for the Leader, this should be the Mindset! Positivity shapes the workplace atmosphere and team dynamics. A positive leader radiates optimism, seeing challenges as opportunities & inspiring the same outlook in others. Positivity is infectious—it motivates and uplifts team morale, enhancing productivity and creativity. They tackle problems with a can-do attitude, encouraging proactive solutions & maintaining open, supportive communication. They navigate change with grace, instilling confidence in their team. Ultimately, a leader's positivity cultivates an environment where innovation thrives, collaboration flourishes & individuals feel empowered to contribute their best, driving overall success.

Leaders have to motivate their teams for success. How on earth do you do that focussing on the negative - you don't. You can only win / achieve success together. This level of engagement with your team promotes a culture of inclusion and balance. Which is fair and trustworthy.

Drawing from Patrick M. Lencioni's insights, leaders must embrace vulnerability. It's foundational for building trust, the antidote to the first dysfunction of a team. Show genuine vulnerability, admitting mistakes and weaknesses. This encourages open communication and sets a precedent for trust and teamwork, which are crucial for overcoming challenges and fostering a cohesive, effective team.

Humility and Kindness come to mind. Openness to ideas, from anyone would add to that. This will create a safe space to share, learn and collaborate

Leaders should carry the "Eat That Frog" approach, prioritizing crucial tasks head-on. By addressing significant challenges promptly, they set an example of proactive tackling, enabling a culture of productivity. Conversely, leaders must avoid becoming a "Catch-22." They shouldn't trap themselves or their teams in contradictory or no-win situations. Instead, they should navigate complexities by seeking solutions, staying adaptable & encouraging innovative problem-solving. A leader's focus on tackling critical issues promptly while avoiding entanglement in self-defeating paradoxes cultivates a forward-thinking, solution-oriented environment, propelling both personal and organizational success.

Whilst these are certainly important traits, a leader is not creating a culture. It's the demonstrated behaviours and actions based on shared beliefs in a community that makes a culture. The fundamental principle of showing and demonstrating respect to each other, no matter the role one is in, in good and not so good times, is key to me.

Personality is a key (along with skill, experience, knowledge and behaviours it's what I look for when recruiting). We all make the world go around, and we are unique, so look for personalities that are different to yours. You want a diverse & inclusive team, you want to hear different voices, opinions and inputs. It creates a better result because it gives you and your team greater perspectives. That leads to broader communication & collaboration. Finally - have humanity & be kind, we all deserve that from our leaders and colleagues. Supporting each other is imperative to success in any team.
