How can game-based learning promote learner engagement and motivation in different contexts and cultures?
Game-based learning (GBL) is a pedagogical approach that uses games, simulations, or gamified elements to create immersive, interactive, and meaningful learning experiences. GBL can enhance learner engagement and motivation by tapping into their intrinsic and extrinsic needs, such as curiosity, challenge, feedback, autonomy, mastery, and recognition. But how can GBL be adapted to different contexts and cultures, and what are the benefits and challenges of doing so?
