Critical incident stress management (CISM) is a comprehensive and systematic approach to helping first responders cope with the psychological effects of traumatic events. CISM can reduce the risk of developing post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), burnout, and other mental health issues that can impair performance and well-being. However, many first responders may not have access to or awareness of CISM services, or may face barriers to seeking help. How can first responders integrate CISM into their training programs to enhance their resilience and readiness?
