Formative assessments can definitely be administered in many forms. My favorite has always been through quick sprites of creativity from students recording their thinking via video to contributing to a classroom back channel or creating thought diagrams to summarize their learning. These are so important, accessible with technology but also even easier for teachers to design so that feedback can be high quality, swift and often collaborative.

An example I see often is the use of technology to help educators communicate with parents and students in their home language. Various platforms exist that can aid in two-way communication, even when the teacher doesn't speak the language of the student or the family.

It can promote self-regulated learning including using Pomodoro Timers, like Time Timer, to keep track of focus time. Alternatively, teachers can use the co-authoring capabilities of cloud-based word-processing apps to help learners monitor their progress on reports. Students and teachers, in partnership, can track changes to their documents, use suggestion mode to scaffold changes, and practice commenting and collaborating for synchronous and asynchronous feedback. Online communities also provide new kinds of opportunities for students to post their work and get feedback from experts or colleagues in that subject area.

Feedback literacy was a new term for me. Contextually I understood what the words meant but not what it meant in practice.
