While I'm excited about the potential of VR for immersive learning, I think the technology still has limitations. In the Coursera course I took, the VR felt more like a gimmick than a true learning enhancement. Challenges I see with VR in e-learning include accessibility issues, user comfort during extended use, limited interactivity, high development costs, and a lack of established instructional design best practices. As an LXD, I believe VR is worth exploring further, but I'm taking a measured approach. I aim to leverage VR when it demonstrably enhances pedagogy and learning outcomes, not just for the wow factor. I'm keeping an eye on VR as it matures, but prioritizing accessibility, engagement, and efficacy in my e-learning projects.

AI can be leveraged to tailor a learning experience to a learner's incoming skill set, from say a pre-test. As the learner progresses AI could continue to alter the path to ensure that the learner not only can answer a question correctly but re-enforce the core theories on why an answer is correct. Many students have learned to master a task with no idea as to what lead up to said task, knowing the why and not just the how makes for a more rounded employee/teacher/ect.

Ethical considerations: As we integrate AI into e-learning, we must prioritize ethical and safety practices. This includes ensuring data privacy and security, mitigating algorithmic bias, and maintaining human oversight. We should use AI to augment human interaction, not replace it entirely. Learners should always know when they're interacting with AI and have options to connect with human instructors. As an LXD, I always ground my designs in adult learning theory, cognitive science, and proven instructional strategies. Technology is a tool, not a substitute for sound andragogy / pedagogy.
