Teacher staffing has long been at the forefront of education. And if education is to not just succeed–but grow and thrive–it needs to have too many teachers, not too few. Despite the teacher retention crisis, new online learning strategies are evolving to keep teachers engaged, inspired, and ultimately working. If used adequately, e-learning can yield very positive results in terms of teacher retention and satisfaction. The most obvious benefit of e-learning is that it offers both synchronous and asynchronous opportunities for learners to interact with the course. This empowers teachers and learners alike by providing them with platforms that transcend the traditional classroom setting. It also facilitates collaboration and makes it easier for all stakeholders to have instant access to all the data regarding the teaching/learning process, which is a vital piece of transparency that has been lacking for decades.

ELearning can help teachers balance teaching time with self study, self exploration, and self learning for the student. While students explore and learn with eLearning, a teacher has time to manage other teaching responsibilities that often leave them feeling over worked and underpaid.

E-learning platforms provide teachers with easy access to professional development opportunities. By offering online courses, webinars, and resources, educators can continuously improve their teaching skills, stay updated on the latest educational trends, and engage in lifelong learning. This ongoing development can boost job satisfaction by keeping teachers motivated and confident in their abilities.

One thing I found helpful with e-learning is it gave teachers an opportunity to reach students on different levels. Students learn on different levels from being tactile learners to really understanding or doing it to get the point across, I feel e-learning can give teachers opportunities to deliver the message to their students who respective other of their learning

This global reach facilitates diverse perspectives and collaboration among individuals from different backgrounds.

E-learning could be mostly beneficial when it comes to learning about “soft skills” or social emotional learning (SEL) as these are not widely included in most of the teacher training programs.

My experience with E-learning for students is motivation to learn. Lesson Creativity abounds in my digital courses. Additionally- ease of multiple student mastery techniques are easily utilized. I enjoy the versatility of e-learning in furthering my knowledge base. Being a life science teacher- my students could learn from virtual labs. I’m a supporter or e-learning.

Since most students are what we would have called “digital natives” a few years ago, e-learning allows instructors to approach learners in their own context. This may lessen the cognitive load on learners as they are functioning in a familiar milieu.

In my experience, all students want feedback quickly and that desire is accelerated in e-learning. Feedback has to be delivered quickly.

Retention of a topic area, and really understanding it, is missing in contemporary society…Perhaps old traditional methods of teaching and learning can go hand in hand.

A true, authentic, representative of e-learning is not a public system where staff are forced to figure out how to make a whole system work in advance last minute. It is software or at least a system of how to navigate different online tools in collaboration with other tools and with the community reasonably so. Safety for students and quality of life for teachers is invisibly embedded in e-learning. Students don't have to feel held down by their peers and potentially accelerate faster independently for certain courses. (continued)

E-learning is a more sophisticated and faster way of teaching others. Teaching with pencil, paper, eraser, chalk, and blackboard is just as effective or else society would not of advanced to present day standards. Just ask the pioneers in the field!

In-person opportunities can still be provided alongside with an online curriculum. It may be harder in some cases. Quality teaching needs to avoid the attempt to avoid the mainstream idea of the implication of "a professional babysitter" and we all want to feel like human beings and not just "all there."

When there is a universal response, such as poor retention, a good start is to look at the data returned by the employees associated with the poor attrition rate. Consider the environment that is being created for the employees. I think it is well known that job satisfaction in education is generally poor. Why is that? Is the education model not current? Are they not feeling valued as employees? Are they prepared for a challenging full time job so soon out of school? Is the 'corporate' structure of the School system not servicing the community? It's no secret that on-the-job training can help with retention, especially of new employees. E-Learning is a good tool worth developing, but no one tool can fix every problem.
