How can Creative Strategy team leaders help their team members learn new skills?

As a team lead, you need to make your team members aware of the goals and of your Creative Project and address them with the qualities and skills that will be required for the project. Be clear and loud and let your teammates know what exact quality attributes and skillset you expect from your team members for the Project. The roadmap should include both courses and materials for study, but also real world exercises and analysis Offer weekly calls where you review their progress and help them navigate each step of the roadmap. Everyone enjoys recognition and celebration for achievements- and that's not a bad thing. But what's even more important is recognizing effort along the way. Learning new things is full of friction. It's easy to cheer at the finish line. Celebrating effort and incremental progress is equally important as feedback for improvement. Healthy amounts of failure are bound to happen. That's where we usually learn the most. Open and transparent feedback paired with encouragement may seem obvious to some- but I have seen many instances of growth plans that were not remotely encouraging or inspiring.

It is crucial in a team to receive appreciation and constructive feedback from the team lead. You as a team lead, need to appreciate the key skills of each and every team member that will be helpful in attaining the expected outcome of the project. Simultaneously, you need to point out the necessary skills that your team members need to learn and develop for achieving the targets of your Creative Project. Also, you need to reward your team members for their performances and continuously review them. This will motivate the team to constantly deliver excelling results and achieving the target more effectively.

As a leader one of the most obvious and effective ways to lift your team up and allow them to learn is by sharing your own experience and expertise and learnings with them on an ongoing basis as well as in a structural manner. Set up recurring feedback sessions, organize training and development workshops etc. Importantly: make them both student and teacher alike, by inviting then to share their experiences and learnings, allowing to be the host of these learning sessions and bring a topic of choice to dive into together etc, and motivate and encourage them to seek creative solutions to challenges by providing them the time to research and learn, building their own expertise area and lifting up their team members in a two-way exchange!

If you don't recognize their performance and provide feedback or appreciate their efforts it might be a problem, and it's better to fix it right away.

Talking about the team learning new stuff and embracing it is very important. When you tell one of your team members that the job that they are doing is great they will want to learn even more!

You need to set up a meet and address everyone and let them know that you support mass learning and believe in growing together as a team. Encourage your team members to learn and support each other. Ultimately, make them understand that the target it to achieve goals as a team and grow together!

You probably don't know everything that they want to learn but there is probably someone in the team who can help you or them! Remember to plan time for R&D and learning for your team. Sometimes even switching between team members who is learning and who is "working" at that period, so your team is not going to suffer during actually projects. And I personally think that they should have this in their job description too!
