Some ways to get started are - I am not an expert but what I experienced as a beginner I can add. Starting exploring different domains is essential like unless and until one tries 100 types of domains cannot find his passion or niche, it's similar to that. Also, watching relevant YouTube videos (it personally helped me a lot) or reading books helps a lot. Following people and trends into the technology domain keeps up to date and gives a way to explore and select the domain of working.

True engineers think in different ways, depending on the problem they are solving , context they are working in, goals they are pursuing … characteristics of the engineering mind-set are: - Analytical : break problems like solving a hairy equation … solve problems from all angles - Creative: use imagination to create solutions that are not obvious or conventional - ask What if? Why not? How about? … experiment with different possibilities - Systems: see the big picture - Design : empathise with the needs and preferences of the users and stakeholders - Critical: evaluate the validity and reliability of information and arguments, using logic and evidence - Collaborative: respect and appreciate the opinions and contributions of others
