Within my job, I advocate for the public daily with cleantech & greentech topics. There are numerous communicative approaches to enact change. Specifically, groups like a cleantech interest group can effectively influence public opinion and political decision-making by highlighting impactful case studies that have led to significant policy changes. As a group, they have the power to spread such a study widely (Social accounts, marketing campaigns, press/media outreach). They can amplify their influence by committing to data transparency, thereby building public trust and demonstrating the benefits of cleantech solutions. Of course, this all assumes a deep understanding of the target audience.

In my experience, it is super important for advocacy groups to be dynamic in their approach. One of the most interesting pivots I've heard about is a startup partnering with an advocacy group that was able to sell the startup's service into an employer that worked with their organization. The startup was candid with the advocacy group that its go-to-market was not working. The advocacy group in the past had not partnered with startups, but given the easy connection, they decided to try it for the first time. Not only did the employer agree, but the advocacy group was able to weave in their messaging into the product and get in front of new audiences.

Cleantech advocacy groups should continually evaluate their strategies and look for ways to improve their influence on public opinion and policymaking. This means analyzing the effectiveness of their campaigns, messaging, and outreach efforts, and making data-driven adjustments to better resonate with their target audiences.
