These sensors gather data on bicycle traffic, which, when analyzed, can predict and mitigate high-risk situations by adjusting traffic signals to favour cyclists or warning motorists of cyclists' presence, especially at intersections or blind spots. Vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) communication systems improve safety by alerting drivers about nearby cyclists. GIS technology aids in mapping cycling patterns, and pinpointing where infrastructure, like protected bike lanes or bike boxes at intersections, is needed most.
