Social AR is a great place to get started with creating augmented reality experiences. Instagram, Snapchat and TikTok all have tools with great tutorials to get started building AR. Adobe Aero is another platform which is a great place to get started in experimenting and creating AR experiences. It is easy to use and you don't necessarily need to have any understanding of programming. Game engines are great for building more advanced AR games and apps. Both Unity and Unreal Engine can build to different devices. Game engines make use of the really great tracking technology such ARKit and ARcore.

Improving cognitive and affective outcomes, in the form of cognitive assist, typically and perhaps essentially requires integration with machine learning systems. On the one hand, this means each leap in AI performance will also dramatically improve cognitive assist scenarios in AR. On the other hand, it also means that AR will always be limited in this area by the associated limits of AI capabilities on mobile devices.
