AI-Driven Simulations:AI can simulate complex real-world systems in emission-free VR environments. e.g. flight simulations.This can be extended to AI's "world creation" potential, will replace Monte Carlo sims in areas such as economics, social behavior. 3. AI as Predictive Planners: AI helps predict energy generation patterns and demand, enabling optimal planning for renewable energy investments, grid management, and energy storage solutions. Can introduce efficiencies in carbon-heavy sectors e.g. bearing.ai.

Again, I will mention that while AI can do miracles, real, ground-breaking results should be expected to be obtained by fault tolerant quantum computers for applications within chemistry and material science, e.g. for designing non-polutant catalysts. Same holds for new material design, new battery design etc. Some people even would call this quantum AI and some people would argue this is the future. While I do not want to take a position on that, I do see how moving from AI to quantum is the essential leap towards a greener future.

Augmented AI in tools like Alexa or even Chat-GPT powered embedded intelligent agents can be leveraged to educate energy efficient steps in every step of the life. Mobile phone manufacturers and Apps have started leveraging AI algorithms on chip for the real-time insights and optimization.

Phenomenon called "Intelligent Explosion" where AI driven intelligence is invented and improved by AI itself the way it is inventing new proteins, DNA modification, all hyperscalers and AI techs are researching heavily on ML based AI optimization for sustainable computation.

Will have to factor in the energy cost to train the AI platform to begin with and determine the applications where that energy cost is exceeded by the potential benefit. AI is highly energy inefficient at learning compared to, say, a human brain.

AI development and operation is currently an energy and resource intensive solution in itself. The massive amounts of compute and data required consume vast amounts of energy (and therefore create CO2), water (for cooling) and materials for server hardware (which also required energy to produce creating embodied carbon). As technologists we need to be responsible with the deployment of AI - we need to make it as efficient as possible and use it for the right reasons. Traditional architectures may be sufficient to solve more straightforward problems. In short don't be blinded by hype and apply AI lazily to every problem - assess whether your problem could be solved using existing non AI based technology.
