I took it as a minimum that each team member would strive to be the best they possibly can be in their current role. Realising, for some, that is plenty enough and is ok. For those who wanted to develop beyond their role, I found it conducive to help them as much as possible, even if it meant loosing them for their own progression as it would encourage others to push hard and focus to get to where they wanted to be.. ideally growth within the team or at least the same company. One day, I hope to be employed by one of those I helped progress to higher levels.
