5G is quite different from its predecessor 4G when it comes to overall system architecture. In terms of services, while 4G was looked upon as a connectivity technology that offers certain speeds and latency, 5G goes much beyond connectivity. In particular, 5G features such as MEC, Network Slicing, Network Exposure, Distributed user plane etc make it quite an ideal Telco platform to support Enterprise use cases. For example, with network slicing, Enterprises can now subscribe for a "slice" of the network whose characteristics are optimized for their use case. In that sense, a network slice can be viewed as a private 5G network offered by the service provider to a particular Enterprise. 5G core works on a service based architecture unlike 4G.
