I explain it very often as follows: The person who received the feedback will need to make his decision whether he accepts it and what the resulting actions should be. Feedback can also be an additional source to actually support your behaviour, or, the strongly contradicting input can enrich your personal thinking. But it is not always mandatory to change yourself for everyone, and especially not every time.
