There is an intangible wealth from those anchored in wisdom of the heart to recognize through self awareness, the insights other possess and the vantage point from their own experience that contribute to biases. Through compassionate exchange there can be a bridge built that allows for effective communication that drives actions to help external and internal stakeholders excel both in the short and long term. Cognitive empathy has its value in leveraging both logic and emotion. Being active in listening to others while regulating ones own emotions to gain understanding for a response that encapsulates both abstract and concrete actions for bettering others is meaningful to embrace. Leaving others to feel heard has its lasting impact.

On m'a dit il y a quelques années que je n'étais pas empathique. J'arrivais à 7h pour commencer à travailler et lorsque les autres collègues arrivaient entre 9h et 10h, je n'avais pas un grand intérêt à discuter de nos week end respectifs, alors que j'étais déjà concentré sur mon travail L'empathie n'est heureusement pas seulement réduite à ?a. Je m'en suis rendu compte plus tard et je vais faire mentir les personnes qui me l'ont dit. Prendre en compte les considérations, les sensibilités, les volontés des autres et donc s'y intéresser sincèrement est l'élément d'une bonne prise de décision. On ne peut certes pas toujours faire plaisir à tout le monde mais on doit s'y intéresser. Et il existe surtout différents stades d'empathie.

As entrepreneurs, our mental health is dependent on the mind space taken up by the state of our professional and personal relationships. Bitterness and toxicity in the workplace lead to a distrustful environment, which spreads to other internal and external stakeholders. I have learned to forgive myself and others and move on with life and business. Trust others, and others - at least most, if not all - will reciprocate. This principle is beneficial in maintaining a healthy workplace and complements the joy and passion elements, thereby leading to increased productivity. Recognition is important, especially for the members at the bottom of the layer in the organisational hierarchy whose contribution often goes unnoticed.

It's all about connections in the entrepreneur world! Strong relationships are your secret weapon. Think of it like emotional intelligence giving you superpowers for communication and trust-building. When you can understand how people feel (both your team and customers!), you can address worries, celebrate wins, and create a space where everyone feels valued. Cultiver (sincèrement) des relations est important. Il s'agit de s'intéresser avant tout aux autres et ils devraient s'intéresser à vous. La sincérité est ici et à mon sens la pierre angulaire (la Keystone ;-)) de toute relation. Des relations basées uniquement sur l'intérêt ne durent que le temps de ce dernier et ne perdurent pas. Au contraire, créer avec ses relations de la confiance, des projets communs, se suivre, s'intéresser à ce qu'ils font est et sera le gage de la construction d'un bel et authentique "réseau". Tant que j'y suis, évitez autant que possible le "bonjour cher réseau" qui fait ressortir l'impersonnalité à son plus haut point et donc concerne à la fois tout le monde et bien souvent, personne.

C'est l'une des choses les plus difficiles... Et c'est aussi l'un des principes de Lamarck : s'appliquer à soi ce que l'on propose aux autres (ex : les risques climatiques, la CSRD, la RSE, L'ESG, le knowledge management, ...). Plus personnellement, l'exemplarité est l'une des voie que je tente de prendre et elle est semée d'emb?ches et de difficultés. Il faut parfois faire un pas de c?té pour revenir plus aguerri sur la ligne. Vous savez quoi? J'ai des principes, je me rends disponible dès que possible, j'écoute, je m'intéresse mais parfois, avec la fatigue, il est facile de digresser ;-) En tant qu'entrepreneur, l'empathie, le calme dans les décisions, l'écoute sont les qualités majeures que je tente de cultiver (il y a du boulot :-D)
