In my opinion, the development of imagination and creativity is the key. I like to practice from time to time with funny tasks like "How to test a pen/cup/wending machine/whatever comes up in my mind". This exercise is easy only at first glance. But by creating more and more test cases (in my mind :)) I practice test design and come up with more untrivial ideas. Then this approach can be transferred to the real application and help expand test coverage on my project. So I think not only about usual use cases but more about the target users ( is it children, adults or seniors), accessibility, localization etc. Give it a try, it is fun :)
