Sometimes I am asked why I have a constant desire to keep studying something... deep down, I believe the first key word is CURIOSITY. La flexibilidad es una skill que debe de tener todo ingeniero que se precie porque he comentado en múltiples ocasiones que la adaptación es algo clave y básico. El día a día es cambiante, consideremos que si hay cambios en un día o jornada..., cómo puede cambiar y adaptarse una planificación a semanas o meses. Ser flexible, conocerse a uno mismo y saber coger el foco necesario para abordar las tareas. Saber delegar y saber con quien y cuando.

As an engineering manager, you are almost never, solely responsible for solving a problem and adapting to a change. Assuming you have hired smart team members, don't be afraid to effectively communicate the change coming your way and then democratize finding ways to adapt to this change. If you have built a strong team, everyone will jump on this opportunity, collaborate and overcome the challenge as one team. Mantenerse mentalmente fuerte es algo que cualquier líder o gestor de ingeniería debe de realizar. La salud mental además debe de ser algo prioritario en el equipo de trabajo. Los impactos de planificaciones y de esfuerzos puede tener mucha afección en las personas que componen el equipo, de ahí que hay que cuidarse a uno mismo y cuidar de quienes nos rodean en el día a día. El éxito no llega si no estamos sanos para dar el 100% de nuestras capacidades.

I see Resilience as a fundamental characteristic for achieving success in any goal set. The step that today, I think is worth discussing, would be a modern concept where we can see an "Empowering Resilience", that is, one that after facing challenges, becomes stronger, more capable, and more prepared... Adopting a resilient mindset, we can say, is closely related to how we see situations, when we are in inevitable scenarios, seeking to overcome with lucidity and action is certainly the best path, so as not to let ourselves be destroyed, after the storm, seeking to absorb all the learning is what will promote personal growth.

Strategic adaptation of a change is extremely crucial. Never loose sight of your team's end goal. If that hasn't changed, then create a strategy to adapt to new changes without risking your end goal. Everyone approaches change as a hard, sometime emotional hurdle in things they were otherwise pursuing. That's not always the case. It is most important to keep your emotions out of your response to the change. You don't have to always adopt the change right away. You could delay it strategically, ensuring that there is minimal or disruption to the team right away and that will also allow the team some time to prepare for the change. In some cases, you could potentially knock off an additional item off of your roadmap while adopting the change.

Strategic adaptation means making informed decisions about when and how to implement changes, rather than reacting impulsively to every new trend. For example, in a recent project, we considered adopting a new project management software. Instead of jumping in, we conducted a thorough analysis of its potential impact on our workflow and team dynamics. We also compared it with our existing tools. By being selective and strategic, we adopted the software that truly enhanced our efficiency and project outcomes. This approach ensures that the changes you embrace genuinely propel your engineering career forward.

Knowing your company, market and organizations key parameters- proper structures suitable for adaptability is also important. Looking at the horizon and identifying key changes that are starting to shape is important. This helps to identify key things to learn and by the time horizon comes near, you would be ready to adopt to the changes and boost your productivity. This type of adoption to predicted systemic gradual changes helped me to develop timely solutions in many critical situations.
