Finding a niche is extremely important. With my marketing background I was able to identify certain needs and gaps within the English teaching market in Brazil. Even though it is a highly competitive market, we can find particularities that meet certain people’s interests. You just have to see the bigger picture and see what others are doing and ask yourself if this is something that you’d like to do as well, but how would you do it differently?if it’s not something you would like to be doing, what do you want to do? Who is your target?

After years of language teaching in various countries following the method/system of each and every organisation simply wasn't good enough for me anymore. Students (young and old) are all individuals with individual language needs, which should be taken seriously. In order to do that you need to step out of your normal language curriculum. Not many teachers are willing to do that, since this means extra time and effort. So I decided to open my own language school and to offer tailormade language courses, especially designed to meet the individual needs of my students. If you have enough experience in your field of expertise and if you know exactly what you don't want and what doesn't work: be the change you wish to see in the world!

In addition I specialized as an SEO Copywriter for German here in the Netherlands, another field of expertise: tailormade Business German for websites/webshops. And again: you listen very carefully to the individual needs of companies in order to create suitable written SEO-content, which represents the company in the best possible way. Here in the Netherlands one often says that German is a language many people in the Netherlands can speak properly, but it's far from that. When it comes to grammar, vocabulary and tone of voice for example you need to know what you are doing to give websites/webshops a natural flow and a professional look: language matters, it shapes thought! Find the niche and know your strenghts!
