Artistic constraints are a key consideration when designing any feature or mechanic. How burdensome an effect, animation, or customization may be. How much a design's request may grow scale or scope. When attacking creative constraints, I think its integral to look not at what a machine can pull off, but what your team can accomplish. Just because your team could make something work technically, doesn't mean they should. As a designer, you are the steward of making sure your requests are reasonable, even if they are creative and clever. Try and reuse assets, or create some content that uses a built system. Truly dealing with creative restraints, I think, is using all the discarded lego pieces to minimize technical and art debt.
