If you understand the personality of others, you can start communicating in their "color". I prefer the DiSC model to classify personalities. A conscientiousness oriented likes to get an agenda first, while an influence oriented personality prefers a bold statement. ????????

My default mode is to get right to the heart of the matter – cut through the fluff and tell it like it is. I figured, why waste time with fancy words when I could just lay things out? But here's the thing I realized: this is not for everyone. Sometimes, my directness can come across as a little too harsh, especially for people who thrive on details and context. This self-awareness made me more thoughtful in certain conversations, and I started adjusting based on the person in front of me and their type of personality. (the blue, red, yellow, green DiSC works great). This doesn't mean I am changing who I am as communication is a 2-way street, but it helps to "sprinkle" your style with thoughtfulness towards your conversation partner.

Listen Actively: Active listening allows you to pick up on cues about their communication style, preferences, and needs. Flexibility: Some prefer direct, concise messages, while others appreciate more context and detail. Empathy: Put yourself in their shoes. Understand their emotions, motivations, and challenges. Clarity: Avoid jargon or overly complex language. Use simple, straightforward words to convey your message effectively. Appreciate Differences: Different personalities bring unique strengths. Appreciate introverts, extroverts, analytical thinkers, and creative minds. Each has something valuable to offer. Remember, successful communication isn’t about imposing your style on others—it’s about connecting authentically.

I’d say master the Power of Listening. Remember 2 ears 1 mouth. Always listen, seek to learn & understand each person. Apply empathy and emotional intelligence to establish a connection and build rapport with individuals of differing personalities. Be flexible and open-minded in your approach. Adapt & adjust your communication style accordingly to better suit the needs and preferences of the different personalities you are engaging with.

Active listening is required to understand their motivation and personality - but it also a powerful tool to mirror their behaviour. Not only use a similar glossary and style, but also adapt the gestures to a certain degree - while staying authentic. This boosts sympathy.

Lead the conversation by asking questions. This often unveils valuable information, shows interest and gives many people a good feeling if they can share experience and express what's on their plate.

Observe others. How do they communicate and operate in the workplace? How do they respond to others? Once you know the answers to both questions, you can determine what parts of your communication style mesh with theirs.
