I learned this the hard way. Not following up properly, thinking that the minimum is enough for people. As a person with ADHD, it is very hard to keep track on follow up. But in the end remember that people don't buy from you becasue they understand you. They buy from you when you make them feel understood.

Building up your relationship bank account means that you give support, provide value and are present for a person without expecting anything in return. If you make this a part of your personality you will have positive balances in those inter relational bank accounts and will be able to withdraw when necessary. This can be challenging at first until it becomes who you are. Be mindful however that not every bank gives similar interest rates and some folks will try to use if you don’t remain vigilant in your good deeds.

I am a talker (for those that know me, this is a chuckle and roll your eyes comment). I used to be guilty of carrying on the conversation past the point of productive. I was politely and subtly educated one day by somebody that wasn’t my boss, and worked in a different division than I. I was thanked for the conversation but advised that there were only so many hours in the work day and they would like to make it home before traffic… we still talk to this day on the basis of I respect that honesty. Be intentional, be engaging, save the gossiping and the general verbal meandering for a time that is off of the clock. You may be keeping somebody from a very important deadline. Be aware of social cues, and keep it brief.

This will help you become aware of different sectors, enabling you to present yourself more effectively.
