Here's how you can stay adaptable when faced with organizational changes as a facilitator.

With the everchanging luxury landscape and reigning unpredictability, I wondered, what happens when your surroundings shift? Is having an idealistic mindset an enemy or a force for change? While clouds gathered, the tone was set: long-term challenges require renewed vision and collaboration. Whether you like it or not, we are brought into a liminal phase. An idealistic mindset will be determined to improve settings, even when the value of such efforts isn't shared. Can you make a revolution alone? Conflicts are inherent to us, but so is collaboration. Working together will do, silos won't. Yet to transcend difficulties, each part must give in. It's okay. A) no one will eat your daily bread, B) we will feast together when the time comes.

As a facilitator navigating organizational changes, stay adaptable by embracing lifelong learning, actively listening to team concerns, and fostering open communication. Keep your skillset sharp through training and stay informed about industry trends. By understanding employee anxieties and fostering clear communication channels, you can guide the team through the transition, identify new learning opportunities, and ensure everyone feels heard and valued throughout the process.

When I faced limitations in my goals, I was told about the macroeconomic context and the employer situation. However, these insights felt generic, similar to watching the news. What if you had to dig deeper to get the context? Knowing the intricacies of your endeavours before taking steps is crucial. Often, I ignored this in favour of proactive actions, focusing on making things happen. However, staying informed and anticipating the dynamics of your requests to stakeholders are key to your success.

Conformity is the elephant in the room when building rapport. When I started my career, I thought conforming would help me fit. But what if I was wrong – what if talent lies in each and everyone's uniqueness? Let’s go to the past and consider playful wanderers who created and excelled in their own paradigms. Yoko Ono, for example, encouraged the nonsensical in her art as an early situationist. No one thought of André Breton as a remarkable artist, yet he had the charisma and the vision to unite quite an eclectic group into surrealism. Many have pushed limits, finding value in the adaptation of well-structured realities. Remember your unique voice is the precursor to innovation. Upholding your worth gives traction, conformity doesn't.

This week I attended an event on spatial computing. It quickly became evident that the invitations were not well segmented, with many unfamiliar with the theme. This made me think, how important is it to target efforts granularly for success? In this competitive digital landscape and pressure to cut through noise, simplifying efforts to a well-defined network reduces wasted time and energy. The one-size-fits-all approach is becoming obsolete, replaced by highly individualized methods. But am I only this and that, not that and the other? With contradictions being inherent to us, there is no right or wrong. However, by building communities and long-standing relationships, we can navigate these complexities and leverage them for success.
