Try to go above and beyond for your clients; do the things other reps won’t because they are already well established. Talk to your customers with patience, humility, and a willingness to help. Stay human, take it easy.

To build rapport, get the clients talking about themselves. When I was working at massage envy, I tried in the first minute to find something that I can ask them an open-ended question about. Often this took the form of, "hey that's a nice _____ where'd you get it?" or something similar. Doing that helped me to open the door and build rapport with the client.

One thing I saw my managers do at the auto dealership I used to work as was bring up the history of the shop, and their five start reviews. It only took them about a minute and it immediately showed the experience they had as auto brokers.

One of Napoleon Hill's teachings in Think and Grow Rich applies here, and I've found that it works really well when it comes to adapting. The idea is to make decisions quickly, and even though "within 60 seconds " like Hill teaches may not be necessary. Roleplay coming up with solutions to quick, chaotic changes in the typical script, including questions to confirm that who you're working with is on board.

At the end of your time with a given company, after you've crushed it, ask your employer, "Who else do you know that could use a salesperson with my experience?" This is an easy way to network because you're asking for a favor, which people are more like to fulfill.

For salespeople in general, here is something that has helped me get around more objections in recent years than anything else. Instead of asking someone to buy, rephrase your question this way: "Would you be opposed to [Solution you came up with]?" People have an inherent reaction to avoid negative interactions, and so their more likely to say yes. Also, it's a softer commitment then "yes"!
