Networking has significantly aided my own career. I echo the point made above by Steve Wood - do not think that networking needs to be limited to your immediate circle. Reach out to those that inspire you, more often than not, they will be willing to help.

Understanding the trend is very important for the food industry. Needs to be updated always. Be aware of current and emerging trends such as sustainability, consumer preference etc and regulatory changes like food safety standards, label requirements and industry standards.

If you want to be updated needs to have knowledge of current trends in the market . It will help you understand the market requirements and your team will be also motivated to excel . Marketing and Training team will be also helpful to support n guide the team accordingly.

In my experience from recruiting into FMCG roles, businesses like to see candidates who have made effort to gain experience outside of their immediate environment. Take opportunities to network with, gain experience and advice from different departments and product types.

It's impossible to keep growing by doing things the same way, so stay open to new production trends. This could mean new machinery, innovative production technology, or new recipes and ingredients. Always be willing to try new things, and you'll discover numerous opportunities to improve your production ??

I think we need to think much more horizontally as well as vertically if we really want to become well rounded business leaders in the food industry. Taking the opportunity to move sideways is something that we often miss and can be invaluable
