For 5 years I have been working to find talent and often it seems impossible to find the right person for the right place. But I have learned over the years that talent stands out, it shows up. Maybe it’s interesting to stop, think, and observe who is standing out. Maybe the talent you are looking for is close to you.

Look for the hungry, the entrepreneurial, and the investigative on your team. Those who really want to know the 'why' behind messaging will be able to connect better with the audience through contextualized storytelling.

As an HR professional, it is crucial to identify the right talent for the right position. During the interview process, it is essential to evaluate the candidate's values. While skills can be learned and developed, core values are intrinsic. Talented employees often challenge processes to bring innovative solutions to problems. They are willing to take on various tasks and actively share their knowledge and expertise with other team members.

I always look for the spark within a person and see what drives their interests and passions. I am not looking for the textbook answer that is expected - rather something that is slightly adjacent, and different. Something that grabs my attention and motivates me to ask the important question: "Tell me more." If I am curious and motivated to learn more, that tells me this person can bring forth a unique perspective that can be beneficial to the field.
